1.1 Navigating Roblox Studio

Following a new installation, this is the vanilla theme and window layout. Let’s get a quick rundown of each window and then we’ll return to them in greater detail.

  1. At the very top is your toolbar and main menu. Studio settings and tools can be found here.
  2. The ‘Toolbox’ is a shared collection of models, images, audio, and other assets created by Roblox and users. These are available for you to use in your own experience
  3. As the name implies, the ‘Terrain Editor’ window allows you to create and edit terrain.
  4. The ‘Command Bar’ provides quick access to Studio functionality via short keyboard commands. This can also run short snippets of code that do not require the full functionality of running a test session.
  5. The ‘Explorer’ is similar to the File Explorer in Windows or Finder in Mac. This allows you to browse all of the objects currently in the game.
  6. Every object has properties associated with it. The ‘Properties’ window allows you to view or modify those properties.
  7. Finally, the main window is the 3D viewport that gives you a glimpse into your game world.

Aside from the 3D viewport and toolbar, any of the other windows can be dragged and re-arranged to your liking.
